IDM 382 Project Overview
September to December 2020
An interactive/immersive learning experience that brings children on a journey into the new objects they are learning about, while immersing them into the colors of the objects. It is a mobile based application, utilizing a screen and a projector. The screen allows readers to flip through their interactive story books, while the projector emulates the blurred colors on the pages. This project tackles the problem of how media negatively impacts the developmental stages of child development. The Reading Realm allows children to use the devices they are familiar with while also helping develop brain development through colors and reading.
What Will It Do?
The Reading Realm is used in order to help developmental growth and education for children in Early Education. It targets children around the ages from 2 to 5 years old.
It will utilize and Arduino and a computer screen in order to help children learn more about colors.
The goal is to have a projection that corresponds to the object that is tapped onto. However, to start off before incorporating the projector, I will first work with a light bulb to see if I can change the colors of the bulb through the Arduino
How Will the End User Control It?
The End user will be able to control the Arduino by using a webpage. The Webpage will be equipped with several different items for the users to click on. When the items are clicked onto, then the color corresponding to the object will light up the bulb on the Arduino to match the object.
How do you plan to build it within 10 weeks?
